Join Bobby Bessey at the Shanti Uganda Birth House for an all-inclusive Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training. During your ten-day trip you will immerse yourself in the prenatal experience from a holistic women’s health perspective as you have the time of your life at the Shanti Uganda Birth House in Luwero, Uganda. This experience will provide in-depth training in anatomy & physiology, teaching techniques for every trimester, yoga philosophy as it relates to pregnancy and lots of opportunity to develop confidence teaching moms-to-be.

The skills learned in this training will help you develop and enhance your own healthy lifestyle as well as provide you with the techniques and confidence to share all of this with prenatal moms back home. This unique setting also provides the opportunity to explore rural Uganda, interact with the community, eat local cuisine, and experience Uganda knowing that your food, transportation, accommodation, safaris will be taken care of by the Shanti staff, leaving you to simply savour every moment.

All of the proceeds of this trip support Shanti Uganda’s work to improve infant and maternal health, provide safe woman-centered care, and support the well-being of birthing mothers as well as women living with HIV in the District of Luwero, Uganda. When you register for this course you are directly contributing to the improvement of infant and maternal health in this community.

Cost: $2598

Program Dates: May 1st – 10th

This special session is a comprehensive Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training as well as a cultural experience. Many lectures will take place outside on the Shanti Birth house grounds as pregnant moms come for prenatal check-ups, take in a prenatal yoga class (possibly taught by you!) or wander about the grounds in labour as they wait for their babies to arrive. During breaks you can chat with women in the income generating group, a program developed to assist HIV-positive women to provide for their families. Their laughter is contagious as they sew and make bead necklaces under the grass roof hut in the center of the grounds.

Read our blog on Every Mother Counts to learn more about the importance yoga has played in the development of Shanti Uganda and the success of our Birth House.

imageYour meals are fresh cooked by local women, using local ingredients, some of which are grown on site. There will be opportunity to visit and eat with local women in their homes and receive instruction by the local midwives and traditional birth attendants. All this is punctuated with a variety of cultural experiences, tours, local festivities, and interaction with local staff and residents. You will go home fully prepared to teach expectant moms, having experienced Uganda, connected with the people, the food and the culture and most of all knowing that you have supported a worthwhile cause that is making real change in the lives of the women in this community.
