Kaelan has served as the Volunteer Coordinator for Shanti Uganda since 2015. He is a pre-med student currently pursuing a second degree in Nutritional Sciences at UBC. He holds a BSc in Psychology from UBC and was inducted into the International Honor Society in Psychology.
Kaelan cares deeply about all aspects of health and nutrition. He has completed an internship with Salama Shield Foundation in Uganda, providing health and education services to the HIV/AIDS community. He was also the Program Coordinator for A Loving Spoonful, a Vancouver-based HIV/AIDS organization. For his work with A Loving Spoonful, he was featured in the book “Waking Up the West Coast: Healers and Visionaries”. During his undergrad, Kaelan has co-authored several published academic papers in the field of Neuroscience and Molecular Medicine. As a guest speaker invited by UBC, SFU, and Oxfam, he has spoken about topics on HIV/AIDS, health, and food security.
When the sun is shining, Kaelan enjoys hiking the many trails surrounding Greater Vancouver in his minimalist sandals.
