Jane E. Drichta is a Certified Professional Midwife, Doula and Birth Educator living in Seattle, Washington. She holds a BA in English and political science from St. Louis University.
Jane has been involved in various facets of birth work for almost 12 years, and has attended over 700 births, in all birth settings imaginable. She has developed curricula for doula trainings and midwifery workshops on three continents. She is a passionate advocate for vaginal birth after cesarean (vbac), and women’s right to informed choice and gentle care. After her first birth-oriented trip abroad, to the Philippines, Jane earned certificates in Global Maternal Health and Neonatal Health from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Jane is also a perinatal massage therapist. ALong with Jodilyn Owen, CPM, LM, Jane is the co-author of the award winning “Essential Homebirth Guide,” published by Gallery Books in 2013. She has also been published in the trade journal Midwifery Today, Squat, The Montessori Gazette, and several short fiction venues including Samsara, American Tanka, and Humpty Dumpty’s Magazine for Children. Her articles have appeared on parents.com, parenthood.com, as well as other websites and online publications.
